Ahh, a journey song of the soul...
...
I am flying. . .
Like the dove cast forth from Noah’s ark
I hold the seed of peace in my heart
But when will I land on the olive branch
Rest my weary wings
I am flying. . .
Little Dove, full of love
Searching for a home for her people
And I grow so weary as the rain beats down upon me
And all around is water, turbulent waters
How the waves lap up at me
They say, “come rest in the arms of the mother
Come rest in the arms of the mama ocean”
Little Dove. . . drowning
Tumbled on the waves, tossed all around
Till I don’t know which way is up or down
as I travel, travel down
Then like Jonah, I meet my destiny
Swallow me
Swallow me
Swallow me whole (x3)
I am flying through darkened caverns
Strange, dusty lands
But I find a fire in the belly of the beast
Don’t get too close, you will be burned
But like the Phoenix, you will return
I am flying. . .
I find my breath, it takes me high
Sweet wind of life that I will ride
On the breath of the whale, larger than life
Stronger than a hurricane,
I will ride
I will ride to the sky
That’s all I know
is how to fly
I am flying. . .
And when will I find a warm and gentle land?
When will I dance upon the sand?
When will we find a warm and gentle land?
When will we dance upon the sand?
Little Dove, full (fool) of love
Searching for a home for her people
Searching for a home for her people
Searching for a home for her people
Memoirs in a Song...
The name holds a sense of ancient wisdom, which I hope begins to seep thru my songs: What are the stories the earth tells, that are written on our ancestral bones? What is the deeper pool of knowledge that we can drink from as we birth ourselves into creative evolutionary beings? Where are our roots? What is the journey we have taken, personally and collectively?...
And so begins the story, woven in song, as fallen through the lyrics of my music...
More lyrics will be coming soon (I've written well over 100 songs!)... In the meantime, I hope you enjoy!
[Please note that you will want to read from bottom to top (in reverse). The "archive by date" list on the lefthand side will help your journey - which begins in March of 1996, when the first song flew out of my lips... You can also search by THEMES: the songs which I like a lot or are in current performance rotation are in the theme of *favorites*]

Funny How We See
Written after "song school" camp up in Lyons, CO - this one is a bit more songwriter-ey than most... Written for a boyfriend at the time who I still loved, but we were drifting apart...
...
(Verse 1)
Walking down the road feeling down
Leaves fall all around
Autumn comes too soon in this high mountain town
Rain has fallen, but the clouds linger
A dying leaf falls through my finger
I bend down to touch it’s amber light
And surprise! It takes flight
Funny how we see what we believe
A withering leaf or a butterfly floating on the breeze
Funny how we see
(Verse 2)
So I continue on down this road
Wondering on the seasons left behind
Time travels in my mind
Spokes of sunlight pierce the haze
As I yearn for hot, youngblood summerdays
When all I see is clouds and shadows
I almost missed the rainbow
Funny how we see what we believe
A dreary day or a misty masterpiece
Funny how we see
(Verse 3)
As the day draws to a close
Shadows long and the air is cold
Who will love me when I’m old?
Shivering, I hurry home
Mourning, the days gone
As I reach the door of my humble nest
I see the note you left
It says, “funny how we see what we believe
Is love asleep, or freedom awakening?”
Funny how we see
(Verse 4)
So meet me down at the old cafe
This precious love just can’t fade away
Hold my hands through these days
I can keep on looking for greener pastures
Seeking a happy ever after
True love must be near
But really, it’s always here
Just remember one thing. . .
A fleeting thing is fragile, and cannot be held onto
Love, like a butterfly, cannot be contained
Funny how we see what we believe
A withering leaf or a butterfly floating on the breeze
Funny how we see what we believe
A withering leaf of a butterfly dancing on the breeze
Funny how we see. . .

Fallen Angel
Ooo, sexy...
...
You, dancing on the wind
Riding an ocean wave
The fire burned through me
As you flew to higher ground
How I wish you would fall back down
Into my open arms
Bless me with your fallen angel’s charms
{Fallen angel}
And I wonder. . .
Do you remember my crooked smile?
And I wonder. . .
Do you remember the taste of my skin?
And I wonder. . .
Do your tears also fall?
And I wonder if you will call
In the early morning before the sun has rose
{Fallen angel}
Did you know you touched me so sudden, so sure
Cracked my faults and lava poured
Trembling in ecstacy
Shaken to the core of my being
{Fallen angel}
I’ve been wandering
Desolate in the barren desert of my mind
And I came upon your oasis
Or was it merely mirage?
One drop of you is never enough
Like a penny in the cup of the old man
shivering on the corner
Take me home to your garden
Drench me in aphrodisia
Shower me with kisses
Ravage me in torrential downpours
I am thirsty. . . I am thirsty. . . I am thirsty
{Fallen angel}
You are welcome, welcome anytime
For you there’s a fire that burns so bright
You’re welcome when the rain beats down the roof
I can feel you coming like the thundering hooves
of Pan the dancing man
You, dancing on the wind
Riding an ocean wave
The fire burned through me
As you flew to higher ground
How I wish you would fall back down
Into my open arms
Bless me with your fallen angel’s charms
{Fallen angel (x5)}

Analisa
This song portrays some of the torment and outcast-ness I experienced as a child. The ending... ...though the metaphor is death, the cliff is really representative of leaping fearlessly into the vastness of one's own being - of leaving behind all that holds one back, that makes one small.
...
My name is Analisa
It may have been my first, but it wasn’t my last
Let me tell you a story of my past.
Verse 1:
There was a little country girl, she liked to play alone
Flowers for companions and a stone would be her throne
She ran naked through the fields, laughing at the sun
Brushing just past nettles and a nest of honeycomb
But she never expected to be stung
Verse 2:
She never was afraid, used to sing for mama’s friends
Dancing for hours, making shadows with her hands
But on that judgement day, wildflowers on the wall
Who are all these children, and what are these names they call?
(Da da da, who do you call..., after the fall...)
Verse 3:
“Hey little hippi girl, why are you such a freak?
Isn’t it the funniest thing, those tears running down her cheeks”
They called her ugly, airhead, what could she believe?
Looking from a child’s eyes, how could she see
The freedom in her simplicity?
(Dididlidi...)
Verse 4
She tried to understand, she tried to make her peace
But the more she stood her ground, the more that they would tease
“Sit tight, just shut your mouth, ignore it yeah just fake it
If you can’t control your feelings then you’ll never ever make it”
(Da da down, just sit on down...)
Verse 5:
So she learned to play it cool, she tried to keep her pride
But she lost a part of her heart with all those tears she hid inside
She tried to fill the hole with things she didn’t need
Their superficial beauty taught her thievery and greed
(Da da deel, what did you steal, how do you feel...)
Verse 6:
Busted, broken down and angry
She started to question what really made her hungry
‘What did I come here for? Isn’t there something more?’
But now she couldn’t remember who she even was before
(Ba da bo, open the door, I gotta settle the score...)
Verse 7:
She was cold. . . oh so cold. . . and lonely,
Heavy. . . oh lord so heavy. . . and stiff
Yearning for salvation she danced. . .
. . . yeah she danced. . . yes she danced. . .
. . . right off a cliff
Spreading her wings to fly, for freedom she would strive
In the moment she died, she would finally be alive
I’m justified, I’m crucified, I’m terrified
I will not be denied!
I will testify till I’m satisfied and purified
I’m mystified!
I’m a firefly, I’m a butterfly, I’m a dragonfly
Hear an angel cry!

Sleepwalker
You've got to imagine this one sung with a bit of both melancholy and angst...
...
Verse 1:
Walkin’ down the street today, strangers look away
Temples of their bodies, a waste and decay
Where do you go to heal, where do you go to pray?
(Where in this world?)
When will I see a smile on your face
When will you recognize your beauty and grace
When will we live a life of thankfulness and praise
(Where in this world?)
Verse 2:
Looking round what do I see? World of illusion
Listening, what do I hear? World of confusion
Opening my heart to feel, world of seclusion
(Where in this world?)
When will we see rainbows appear?
When will we hear music of the spheres?
When will we feel a love sincere?
(Where in this world?)
Chorus:
And I may not be the holiest of angels
I may not be able to remove your blindfold
I may not be the one to save your soul
But I hold to that which is golden
Bridge:
Sleepwalker
Sleepwalker
Sleepwalker
Open your eyes
Open your mind
Peel off your disguise
We are all Magi
(Chorus)
Verse 3:
Down by the riverside, I pray and I kneel
Water runs low through concrete and steel
Dwindling away as we spin our wheels
(Where in this world?)
When will we see rivers running wild
Lush, green and free for miles upon miles
I wait like the Sphinx on the banks of the Nile
(Where in this world?)
(Chorus)
...

Perpetual Precipice
Ahh, the sweet longing (and frustration, and confusion, and impatience...) of youth...
...
Verse 1:
Waiting on this precipice
Waiting till I know
Where blow the winds of time
Whiche’re way shall I go
One moment finds a current
The next I am left dangling
Clinging to a thread of doubt
Tangling and untangling
Chorus: Waiting on this perpetual precipice
Waiting on this perpetual precipice
Waiting. . . Waiting. . . Waiting!
Verse 2:
Waiting on this precipice
Who, where am I?
Am I falling through the ocean
Or drowning in the sky?
I know that the answer lies
Hidden inside me
Only love will guide me there
Only truth will set me free
(Chorus)
Verse 3:
Waiting on this precipice
Dancing with my fears
So hard to hold on
So hard to hold back the tears
Calling out to nothing
Calling out to everything
Can you hear my heartbeat
Can you hear me sing?
(La lai lai lai lai. . . )
Waiting. . . Waiting. . . Waiting
A voice out of nowhere says release just let go
A voice out of somewhere says follow the flow
A voice out of everywhere says you already know
And on this precipice
No longer will I stand
Taking hold of nothing
I fall into God’s hands. . .
...

Tears on My Guitar
This one should really be heard . . . The lyrics are so simple, but the song itself very entrancing.
...
My best friend
My holy angel
It’s so hard to see you
So hard to see you go
Chorus: Tears on my guitar (x3)
God’s love
In your laughter
Holy water
Of your kiss (oh sweet bliss)
(Chorus)
(Taxim and/or Instrumental)
Bridge:
I know we have chosen this life together
Love keeps us warm no matter the weather
I know we have chosen this time for a reason
As we ebb and flow with the changes of season
(Chorus)

New Day
Verse 1:
I am ready for the new day
Where all our people are at peace
I will walk down any street,
Anywhere, anytime, and be at ease
I am ready for the new day
For the rising of the morning sun
Ready for the glory of creation
When all the children are one
Verse 2:
We are entering unknown territory
Who out there can hear my song?
How many of my people
Will even dare to sing along?
We are entering unknown territory
A trail of tears we leave behind
When we arrive in the new time
I will share a glass of the divine
Chorus:
I will lift my song to the angels
Give my breath to the wind
Live my life for the music
And for love of this world we’re living in
Bridge:
We are starlight
Woven through time in infinite ways
We are the dreamers
Dancing the world awake
We are a heartbeat
Rhythm of creation
We are lovesong
Healing the nations
Verse 3:
Can you feel the power of devotion
Passion too hard to resist
Love is the sweetest emotion
Woven through all that exists
Can you feel the power of devotion
Grace of God in a kiss
Opens the doors of perception
As we glide into infinite bliss
{No it don’t get much better than this}
(Chorus), then...
We must all lift our souls to the angels
Give our breath to the wind
Live our lives for each other
And for love of this world we're living in
Yeah for love, yeah for love
Yeah for love of this world... we're living in
I am ready for the new day

Eyes of Divinity
Inspired by a painting of Eagle Woman by Susan Seddon Boulet...
...
Verse 1:
And my hands are the same as the garden, I dig down deep
Reaching earth and soil and rock and riverbed
Here I am, oh here I stand
I wish I could fly and I can
I am eagle, I am woman
I am the whole world held in my hands
I am eagle, I am woman
I am the whole world held in a grain of sand
Verse 2:
And my body dissolves in the river that rolls round me
Washing my soul of all impurity
Tumble me like a riverstone
I wish I were water and I am
I am river, I am woman
I am the blood in my veins
I am river, I am woman
I am the lifeblood that flows in everything
Chorus:
And the ocean is cradled in the earth
Embraced by the sun and the whole of the universe
There’s no separation between you and me
We are all one in the eyes of divinity
Verse 3:
And my mind is clear as an amethyst hidden in stone
Crystal lucidity encased in flesh and bone
Luminous from an inner sun
I wish to be light and I am
I am radiant, I am woman
I am the chrysalis of eternal mind
I am radiant, I am woman
I am the chrysalis of everlasting life
(Chorus) . . . In the arms of infinity!

Bringers of the Dawn
Ha ha ha, this one became a hippi anthem at Rainbow Gatherings for some many years...
...
Verse 1:
We’ve got to believe in the power of the people
Got to believe in the power to heal
Got to believe in the power of the people
Got to believe that this power is real
Got to believe in the people
Verse 2:
We’ve gotta be calm, cool, clear and connected
With conscious intention in every single act
Changing with courage in every situation
Cosmic unity is where it’s at
Conscious community is where it’s at
Chorus:
Because we are the bringers of the dawn
And love is the road we travel on
Letting truth be the reigns that we ride
Letting hope and faith be our guide
Bridge:
So we made some mistakes
There ain’t nothing we can’t change
So we made a few mistakes
There ain’t no fate we can’t rearrange
(Chorus)
Verse 3:
We are free. . .
We are free of our negative thinking
Reality’s born of that which we believe
Knowing that heaven’s wherever we create it
A new and sacred world for you and me
A new and sacred world for you and me
(Chorus)
